Batang belongs to the Mackerel family of fishes. This is the fish that has been used widely in Sliced Fish Soup, Fish Porridge and Otah. Batang meat is soft, moist and flaky. When cooked, it has a buttery flavour. It is also rich in Omega-3 which is good for the heart and its high oil content makes it suitable for barbeque as well.
